Honor Code sharp in breeze

At one point, trainer Shug McGaughey had thought about bringing Honor Code, last year’s Grade 2 Remsen winner, back in Saturday's $200,000, Grade 3 Discovery at Aqueduct. But he changed his mind weeks ago, not even nominating the ridgling to the race.
There is an allowance race at Aqueduct on Friday for which Honor Code was eligible, but McGaughey opted not to run there either.
Based on his breeze at Belmont Park on Sunday, there certainly doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with Honor Code. He worked five furlongs in 58.88 seconds over Belmont’s main track, the fastest of 18 moves at the distance.
“I want to work him one more time before I run him,” McGaughey said Sunday. “He worked faster than I wanted to; a horse broke off in front of him, he went after him. He worked good, he came back good. I came back before [Sunday’s] second race, and he was standing in the front of his stall.”
Honor Code has been sidelined since March due to a suspensory injury in a hind leg.
