Hong Kong superstar Golden Sixty has been retired after a remarkable career of 26 wins in 31 starts from the spring of 2019 until April of this year. The Horse of the Year in Hong Kong three consecutive years, for the 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 seasons, Golden Sixty was fourth in the Group 1 Champions Mile at Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong in April in his final start. Golden Sixty’s retirement was announced by owner Stanley Chan on Friday. “Watching him compete has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” Chan said in a statement released by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. :: Hong Kong: Free PPs, picks, analysis, replays, and live streaming Trained by Francis Lui, Golden Sixty earned approximately $21.4 million, making him the richest racehorse of all time. At his peak, Golden Sixty won 16 consecutive races from September 2019 to December 2021. Golden Sixty specialized in one-mile races but did win Group 1 races at 1 1/4 miles. A retirement ceremony will be held in honor of Golden Sixty on Sept. 22 at Sha Tin Racecourse. A winner of 10 Group 1 races, the 9-year-old Golden Sixty was bred in Australia and is by Medaglia d’Oro.
