Sight Success, one of three entrants trained by John Size, tries for a third straight win when he faces nine foes in the featured Bruntsfield Handicap on Wednesday at Happy Valley. Last Hong Kong racing season, Sight Success missed by a nose carrying 130 pounds in a Class 3 handicap run over 1,200 meters at Happy Valley, and that is the formidable weight assignment he’ll try to carry to victory in the last of eight races, a Class 2 handicap at 1,200 meters. Five-year-old Sight Success began his career last season with victories in his first three starts, quickly rising from an unraced horse rated 52, up to 83, but ultimately unable to handle the competition jump from Class 3 to Class 2. Defeated his last four starts of 2020-21, Sight Success lost his first two races this season before finding peak form, going wire to wire in a 1,000-meter Class 2 on Oct. 31 and winning again Nov. 10, this time in a 1,200-meter contest. Sight Success and jockey Victor Borges, who rides again Wednesday, got a perfect pressing trip two weeks ago in a race where the middle fractions were meaningfully slower than par, but Sight Success, home by three-quarters of a length, did appear to win with something in reserve while toting 124 pounds. He’s well drawn for another favorable pressing journey in post 7 and already has shown he can string together three winning performances. :: Hong Kong: Free PPs, picks, analysis, replays, and live streaming :: Download DRF's Guide to Betting Hong Kong Racing Drops of God, another Size-trained horse, had a good trip drafting behind Sight Success in the latter’s most recent win but went flat in the homestretch with no apparent excuse and finished fourth. This 4-year-old has raced only seven times, that last start his first try at Class 2, and Drops of God, who looks capable of the needed improvement, gets a 14-pound weight break Wednesday from Sight Success. Size’s third entrant, with leading jockey Zac Purton named to ride, is Scores of Fun, who rallied from last of 10 under Joao Moreira to win a 1,200-meter Happy Valley Class 3 in his last out. He was helped by a strong middle pace and did not finish especially fast -- his final 400 meters in 22.91 -- while passing most of the field in the homestretch, and Scores of Fun hasn’t finished better than sixth in four tries at Class 2. Making a strong run for third behind Sight Success in the Nov. 10 heat before galloping out far in front of his rivals was Winning Method, who carries just 115 pounds, but this gelding regularly teases with competitive closing finishes that lead only to minor placings. Top-rated at 98 and carrying 133 pounds is 8-year-old Wishful Thinker, a fringe player in leading Hong Kong sprint stakes during his heyday. Wishful Thinker hasn’t raced at Happy Valley since February 2019, when he finished full of run to win a 1,200-meter Class 1 handicap, but a move down in class to this level has not sparked Wishful Thinker in his two most recent starts. Keep You Real is the big ratings riser in the Wednesday feature, up nine points to 83 after a blowout Class 3 victory to start his 2021-22 campaign. That came after Keep You Real broke through in his final 2020-21 start with a similarly easy Class 3 score, but both those races came over 1,000 meters and 4-year-old Keep You Real must cope with post 10. First post for this card, which starts with a competitive Class 3 handicap, is 5:15 a.m. Eastern. Watch and wager at DRFBets.com.
