Hong Kong: Guy Dragon well-placed to make jump to a Class 2
Guy Dragon has spent most of his 2020-2021 Hong Kong season racing at Sha Tin but has done all his winning at Happy Valley.
With four Sha Tin turf starts and one on the dirt track there, Guy Dragon has compiled a 5-0-1-1 record this season. At Happy Valley, where he starts Wednesday night in the featured ninth race, a 1,200-meter Class 2 handicap for horses rated 100-80, he has gone 2 for 2.

Granted, both those wins came in Class 3 handicaps, but both were at Wednesday’s 1,200-meter trip, and Guy Dragon, rated 83, gets in at a very manageable 117 pounds. The weight Guy Dragon carries comes in the form of jockey Joao Moreira, leading rider this season in Hong Kong, and Guy Dragon is trained by the man known as “King of the Valley,” Caspar Fownes.
Top-rated here and carrying 133 pounds is Will Power, who has spent most of his Hong Kong career racing on the dirt track at Sha Tin but did manage a third on the Happy Valley grass course earlier this term racing at this class level and distance.
Fownes has a second runner, Snap Fit, who could surprise. Snap Fit, a winner four times in his nine-race Hong Kong career, turned in his worst performance returning from a long layoff in January but rebounded in his most recent start with a Happy Valley class 3 win over 1,200 meters, and he’s in Wednesday at just 116 pounds.
