Hong Kong: Class 2 featured in rare Sunday card at Happy Valley
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEBizarro week in Hong Kong racing continues with a Sunday card at Happy Valley.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club turned the standard racing schedule on its head this week, with the Wednesday program, typically run at Happy Valley, held at Sha Tin. And this Sunday’s card, nearly always hosted at Sha Tin, will be run at Happy Valley.
Featured is race 2, a Class 2 handicap for horses rated 100-80 and carded for five furlongs on turf, a one-turn race at Happy Valley.
Handsome Bo Bo and Hong Kong Win both are rated 91 and carry top weight of 131 pounds. Trained by John Size, Hong Kong Win was a four-time winner during the 2019-20 racing season racing in Hong Kong but lost all eight of his 2020-21 starts and is 0 for 2 so far this year. Five starts and nearly five months ago, Hong Kong Win raced under these same conditions (Class 2 going 1,000 meters at Happy Valley while carrying 131 pounds) and finished a tepid sixth.

Handsome Bo Bo’s longer-term baseline might be slightly lower than Hong Kong Win’s, but he seems a more likely winner Sunday. He set the pace and held second in a 1,200-meter Happy Valley Class 2 on Sept. 15 and won a Class 3 going 1,000 meters on this course last season.
Classic Unicorn, who carries 128 pounds, is very fast and looms a gate-to-wire threat from post 2.
First post for this 10-race card is 12:45 a.m. Eastern and you can catch all the action at DRFBets.com.
