Hong Kong-based rider Karis Teetan wins International Jockeys' Championship
HONG KONG – Mauritius-born, Hong Kong-based Karis Teetan won the International Jockeys’ Championship on Wednesday night at Happy Valley.
Twelve jockeys rode in four races on the Happy Valley card, with top-three finishes worth 12, 6, and 4 points, respectively, and the winner crowned on total points. Teetan rode a winner in the second leg, race 5, after finishing third in the first leg, race 4. After going unplaced in race 7, he managed a third-place finish on High Rev in race 8 to edge Ryan Moore 20-18. Moore had a win in race 4 and a place, and had the lead going into the final leg. But his mount there, Ruthven, faded after tracking the pace and finished unplaced, leaving the championship to Teetan.
