Honeybee winner Shedaresthedevil will be pointed to Fantasy

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Shedaresthedevil, who won the Grade 3, $300,000 Honeybee on Saturday at Oaklawn, emerged from the race in good order and is being pointed to the track’s Fantasy, trainer Brad Cox said Monday.
The Grade 3, $600,000 Fantasy at 1 1/16 miles opens the Racing Festival of the South on April 10.
“We’ll leave her right at Oaklawn, point for the Fantasy,” Cox said. “Hopefully, we’ll get another good race, set her up for the Kentucky Oaks.”
Shedaresthedevil earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 80 in the Honeybee. She stalked the pace from the rail in the 1 1/16-mile race, handled a good amount of kickback, and came between rivals in the stretch for a three-quarter-length victory under Joe Talamo.

“She was able to settle in behind horses and when she got the split, she responded really well to the jock asking her to go through there,” Cox said.
The start was the second at the meet for Shedaresthedevil. She was second by three-quarters of a length in a first-level allowance over 1 1/16 miles on Feb. 15. The start was her first since October.
“I guess there was a little bit of a question mark, with her getting run down late last time, as to how far she wanted to go, but I thought she needed that race,” Cox said.
Cox said the Honeybee gives him confidence Shedaresthedevil can handle more ground, like the 1 1/8-mile trip of the Kentucky Oaks.
Shedaresthedevil ran second in last year’s Grade 2 Sorrento, when based in Southern California. She is owned by the partnership of Flurry Racing Stable, which is based in Arkansas; Qatar Racing Limited; and Big Aut Farms. Shedaresthedevil is by Daredevil.
◗ Whitmore earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 104 for his win in the Hot Springs Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn, equaling the best number put up at the current meet. He’s tied with Share the Upside, winner of the King Cotton over Whitmore in February.
◗ La Renoleta, a Group 1 winner in her native Argentina who is undefeated in five starts, worked five-eighths in 1:00.20 on Monday. She won an Oaklawn allowance by 9 3/4 lengths on Feb 8. Plans for her next start have not yet been determined, trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday.
