Home of the Brave can win the most prestigious race of his career and his fourth stakes race when he starts favored in Saturday’s $194,325 Hungerford Stakes for sprinters at Newbury Racecourse in England. The Group 2 Hungerford Stakes is run at seven furlongs on a straightaway turf course. Home of the Brave won the King Richard III Stakes at Leicester in April and the Group 3 Timeform Jury Stakes at Haydock Park in May before finishing second in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood on July 26. Home of the Brave has yet to win a Group 1 or Group 2 race. He was sixth in the Group 1 English 2000 Guineas and sixth in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup in 2015. The 4-year-old colt is owned by Godolphin Racing and trained by Hugo Palmer. The Hungerford Stakes drew a field of seven, including Convey and Markaz, recent stakes winners. Convey, who was second in the Jury Stakes, won the minor Pomfret Stakes at a mile at Pontefract, England, on July 24. Markaz won the Group 3 Chipcase Stakes at Newcastle on June 25 and was fifth in the Lennox Stakes.
