Benoit & Associates Global View and jockey Joe Talamo pull away in the Generous.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Global View made a smooth transition from maiden race winner to stakes winner in Saturday’s $100,000 Generous Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Global View had an ideal trip, stalking pacesetter Ontology to early stretch before taking the lead in the final furlong and winning by 1 1/4 lengths. Global View ($6.40) ran a mile on turf in 1:36.25.

Talamo had Global View in fourth place for the first half-mile through fractions of 23.63 and 47.21 seconds. Global View was second on the turn, two lengths behind Ontology. The margin was reduced to a half-length with a furlong remaining.

“He relaxed and Joe gave him a good trip,” trainer Tom Proctor said. “It makes them look better to get a good trip.”

Aotearoa, seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 1, closed from last in a field of six to finish second, three-quarters of a length in front of Royal Banker. Ontology was fourth, followed by even-money favorite Pablo Del Monte and Persisting.

Pablo Del Monte, who was making his stakes and turf debut, was third for the first six furlongs, but was not a threat in the stretch.

Aotearoa was last with a furlong remaining after showing little run on the turn, according to trainer Leonard Powell.

“He hit a flat spot at the three-eighths,” Powell said. “At the quarter pole, he leveled off and closed well.”

Global View, by Galileo, is owned by Glen Hill Farm. Purchased for $500,000 at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale, Global View has won 2 of 3 starts and earned $93,300. He beat maidens in his turf debut on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Oct. 27 in his second start.

“He’s always acted like a good horse,”Proctor said. “He’s bred to run all day.”
