Hollywood Park: Sharp Cat comes up light
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - The $100,000 Sharp Cat Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Saturday drew a field of six, none of which has won a stakes.
Be Proud, Georgia, and Saintly Joan each won a maiden race in her last start. Perched and Pleasant Miss have placed in stakes. Arethusa is a maiden after three starts.
Perched was third in the Barretts Debutante Stakes at the Los Angeles County Fair in September. Pleasant Miss has been second or third in four stakes for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
Georgia, winner of a one-mile race for maidens at Santa Anita on Sept. 27, will be ridden by Rafael Bejarano, who took a commanding lead in the jockey standings in the first week of the Hollywood Park autumn meeting.
Through Monday, the fifth day of the meeting, Bejarano had 10 winners, five more than Joe Talamo. Bejarano had three wins Monday. Sadler led all trainers with five winners. He had three consecutive winners Monday .
◗ There is no racing Thursday at Hollywood Park. Racing resumes Friday and continues through Sunday.
