Hollywood Park: Pick six carryover of $226,598

Steve Andersen|Nov 23, 2013

ARCADIA, Calif. - The pick six pool on Sunday is expected to exceed $1 million at Betfair Hollywood Park, a program that begins with a two-day carryover of $226,598.

An upset win by Royally Dunn ($136) in Saturday’s fourth eliminated most tickets in the first leg of the pick six. Going into the ninth race, five horses were not covered in the pick six. The carryover was clinched when Only the Gold ($85.20) caught 2-1 favorite Afflication in the final strides. If Afflication had won, the pick six would have been hit.

Sunday’s pick six covers the fourth through ninth races on a program that begins at 12:30 p.m. Pacific.

The races are a six-furlong maiden race for 2-year-olds that drew a field of nine, followed by a six-furlong $10,000 claimer with eight runners.

In the sixth race, Los Borrachos was an early scratch from the also-eligible list of a six-furlong maiden race on turf. The race will have only eight starters, meaning there will be more scratches on Sunday morning.

Rousing Sermon is favored to win the seventh race, the $100,000 On Trust Handicap for California-breds over 7 1/2 furlongs. Rousing Sermon is part of a field of eight.

There are eight entrants in the eighth race, an allowance race over six furlongs on turf.

The final race, a six-furlong maiden claimer for fillies and mares, will have no more than 10 starters. Amina Perfect was scratched on Saturday.

There is a carryover of $33,769 for the $1 super high five on the final race.
