Hollywood Park: Pick-six carryover of $127,566 for meet's final card

Steve Andersen|Jul 13, 2013

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – The spring-summer meeting at Betfair Hollywood Park will close Sunday with massive interest in the track’s pick six.

The final day of the season will have a pick-six carryover of $127,566 from Saturday’s program. The pool of new money Sunday easily could reach $750,000. The pool must be distributed Sunday, meaning that if no one hits the pick six, consolation tickets with five of six winners will be highly lucrative.

There are 11 races on Sunday’s program, and the pick six covers the sixth through 11th races on a card that begins at 1 p.m. Pacific. The sixth race has an approximate post time of 3:30 p.m.

Sunday’s pick-six races have fields of 11, 8, 9, 10, 8, and 10. There are two early scratches. In the ninth race, Brother Soldier has been withdrawn. In the 11th race, Point Happy is out.

The shortest-priced morning-line favorite in the pick-six races is Ethnic Dance at 9-5 in the seventh race, a maiden race over a mile on turf. Ethnic Dance was beaten a nose in his last start May 26.

There are no stakes in Sunday’s pick-six sequence. The $100,000 Sunset Handicap over 1 1/2 miles on turf is the day’s fifth race.

One subplot to Sunday’s program is the jockeys’ standings. Through Saturday, Joe Talamo led all riders with 50 wins, one more than Rafael Bejarano and Edwin Maldonado.
