Hollywood Park: He’s Had Enough tunes up for CashCall Futurity

He’s Had Enough, the runner-up in the BC Juvenile at Santa Anita on Nov. 3, has finished his major preparation for the $750,000 CashCall Futurity on Dec. 15.

Last Wednesday at Santa Anita, He’s Had Enough worked six furlongs in 1:13.40.

“He’ll gallop pretty strongly right into the race,” trainer Doug O’Neill said.

He’s Had Enough worked without blinkers, but will wear them in the CashCall Futurity. The colt has worn blinkers in his last two starts – an 11th in the Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland and the BC Juvenile, when he was beaten a head by division leader Shanghai Bobby.

Jockey Mario Gutierrez rode He’s Had Enough in his last two starts and was aboard for the workout. He advised O’Neill to leave the blinkers on.

“Mario said he was losing focus,” O’Neill said. “The slightest blinkers will help keep his mind focused. The $750,000 CashCall Futurity is not a place to try something.”

Owned by Paul Reddam, whose money-lending business sponsors the race, He’s Had Enough will be after his first stakes win in the CashCall Futurity, which is run over 1 1/16 miles. He represents the hopes of the owner, trainer and jockey who teamed to win the 2012 Kentucky Derby with I’ll Have Another, now retired to stud in Japan.

The CashCall Futurity field is expected to include two shippers – Oxbow and Violence.

Oxbow beat maidens in his fourth start, over seven furlongs at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25.

Violence is unbeaten in two starts. After winning a maiden race at Saratoga in August, Violence won his stakes debut in the Grade 2 Nashua Stakes over a mile at Aqueduct on Nov. 4.

Bob Baffert said on Friday that he will wait until Monday before finalizing his team, which could include Really Mr Greely and Super Ninety Nine, the first two finishers of the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes on Nov. 22; Title Contender, eighth in the BC Juvenile; or Carving, the winner of the Real Quiet Stakes on Nov. 10.
