Benoit & Associates Going for a Spin, who was running for a claiming tag as low as $25,000 earlier this season, wins her second stakes under jockey Rafael Bejarano in the Cat's Cradle.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Going for a Spin closed with a wide rally to win her second stakes of 2012 in Sunday’s $78,200 Cat’s Cradle Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Going for a Spin swept past deep stretch leader Cayanna in the final furlong to win by 3 3/4 lengths, finishing 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:31.62.

Cayanna finished 1 1/4 lengths in front of Willa B Awesome, the winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks in March. Sparking Style, the 4-5 favorite, finished sixth in a field of seven California-bred fillies and mares.

Sparkling Style raced behind the leaders on the backstretch, but faded from contention on the turn.

The stewards conducted an inquiry into a bumping incident involving Willa B Awesome, Camille C and Really Elegant entering the stretch, but did not change the order of finish.

Going for a Spin was sixth on the backstretch. Bejarano had her behind the leaders on the turn and swung to the outside in early stretch.

A 4-year-old filly by Ministers Wild Cat, Going for a Spin has won 6 of 26 starts and $301,952. She has been claimed four times this year.

Going for a Spin began the year for her current owners and trainer – Tom and Debbie Stull’s Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. She was claimed from then for $40,000 on Jan. 7, and later claimed for $25,000 and $32,000 before the Stulls and Hollendorfer took her back for $40,000 here in May.

In September, Going for a Spin won the E.B. Johnston Stakes at the Los Angeles County Fair at Fairplex Park.
