Hollywood Park: Global View to stay on turf in spring campaign

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Global View has earned a winter vacation after a successful stakes debut in Saturday’s $100,250 Generous Stakes for 2-year-olds on turf at Betfair Hollywood Park.
“I’m going to keep him on turf – in a pasture,” trainer Tom Proctor said.
Proctor said Global View will go to a farm in Florida in the coming days, with an eye on bringing the colt back to turf stakes in the spring.
“We can have him ready to go to Keeneland in April,” he said. “He’s pretty mature, and this will help him more.”
Owned by Glen Hill Farm, Global View won the Grade 3 Generous Stakes, run over a mile, under jockey Joe Talamo. Global View closed from fourth in a field of six to finish 1 1/4 lengths in front of Aotearoa, a stakes winner at Santa Anita in October.
Global View, who is by Galileo, has won 2 of 3 starts and earned $93,300. He beat maidens in his turf debut on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Oct. 27 in his second start.
Proctor said Global View could race at Santa Anita in May or June, depending on whether the track offers any lucrative stakes for 3-year-olds on turf at that time of year.
Santa Anita will race in May and June for the first time in 2014, taking the place of Hollywood Park, which closes permanently Dec. 22. In past years, Hollywood Park has downplayed stakes for 3-year-olds on turf in the spring, leaving the division with few opportunities until Del Mar opens in mid-July.
