Hollywood Park: Dance With Fate to target stakes on synthetic surfaces

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Dance With Fate, who was second in two Grade 1 races before finishing eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita on Nov. 2, will have an early 2014 campaign geared toward synthetic-track races.
Trainer Peter Eurton said Dance With Fate is unlikely to start in the $750,000 CashCall Futurity at Betfair Hollywood Park on Dec. 14. Races such as the El Camino Real Derby or the California Derby on the Tapeta Footings synthetic surface at Golden Gate Fields in early 2014 and the Blue Grass Stakes on Polytrack at Keeneland in April will be considered, he said.
“I’ve got to give him a break,” Eurton said over the weekend. “The Blue Grass is my big plan. I’m not sold on him on dirt yet.”
Dance With Fate beat maidens and finished second in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity on Polytrack at Del Mar during the summer. He was second in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes on dirt at Santa Anita on Sept. 28 before finishing nine lengths behind New Year’s Day in the BC Juvenile over 1 1/16 miles.
