Hollywood Park: Centralinteligence back at barn after surgery
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Centralinteligence could return to racing after undergoing surgery for a condylar fracture suffered Nov. 1 in the BC Dirt Mile, trainer Ron Ellis said.
Centralinteligence was eased in the BC Dirt Mile after racing in seventh for the first half of the race. He was vanned off and underwent surgery to have two stabilizing pins inserted in his right front leg over the weekend. The gelding was back at Ellis’s barn at Hollywood Park on Wednesday.
“They’re giving him a decent prognosis for racing again, 70 to 80 percent,” Ellis said. “We’ll reevaluate him in a couple of months.”
Centralinteligence, 5, has won 4 of 14 starts and $309,171. He won the Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap over seven furlongs at Hollywood Park in June, his only stakes win.
E Equalsmcsquared ‘sparkling’
E Equalsmcsquared, a filly by Einstein, will start in her fifth consecutive stakes in Saturday’s $100,000 Moccasin Stakes for 2-year-old fillies over seven furlongs.
Trained by Eric Kruljac, E Equalsmcsquared was second to Moccasin candidate Bajan in the Anoakia Stakes over six furlongs at Santa Anita on Oct. 13. The result left Kruljac encouraged.
E Equalsmcsquared was second in the Landaluce Stakes at Hollywood Park in July, but unplaced in two stakes at Del Mar.
“She lost weight” at Del Mar, he said. “We shouldn’t have run her. She’s really sparkling right now.”
◗ Hollywood Park races through Monday in honor of Veteran’s Day. There will be no racing on Thursday, Nov. 14 before a three-day racing weekend from Nov. 15-17.
