Hollywood Dayton: Donttellmeagain sets track record in Dayton Pacing Derby triumph

Donttellmeagain and driver Tim Tetrick went a vicious mile of 1:47 4/5 to capture the $150,000 Dayton Pacing Derby for free-for-allers on Friday night at Hollywood Dayton Raceway.
Western Fame blasted out early and set a tempo that would only get faster, with Brett Miller guiding him to the top in 25 2/5. Tetrick pushed hard early, bolted to the top passing the stands, and was at the half in :52 3/5 before being put under pressure by McWicked on the backstretch. The two favorites duked it out through a wicked third quarter, with Donttellmeagain still in control in 1:20 and Tetrick urging his horse on.
In the stretch Donttellmeagain, a gelded son of Dragon Again, easily held pocket-sitting Western Fame at bay, closing out his mile with a 27 4/5 final kicker. McWicked held off All Bets Off for third.
"I took matters into my own hands this time and at the half I was kicking myself," said Tetrick, obviously concerned the 52 3/5 half would be his undoing.
Owned by Paton Racing Stables Inc. and trained by Jim King Jr., Donttellmeagain broke the track record by a full second with the clocking and paid $3.80 as the public choice.
