Hollywood carryover reaches $390,666

Steve Andersen|Jun 05, 2004

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - A two-day pick six carryover of $390,666 is part of Saturday's program at Hollywood Park, which includes the simulcast of Smarty Jones's quest to win the Belmont Stakes and racing's elusive Triple Crown.

The Hollywood Park pick six covers the fifth through 10th races on a program that begins at 12:50 p.m. The pick six includes three turf races and three races on dirt - two races for claiming sprinters and a maiden claimer for sprinters.

Here is a glance at the changes for Saturday's pick six races:

In the fifth race, Sunshinenbeer is the 2-1 favorite on the morning-line to win a one-mile maiden race on turf. He faces eight opponents, including Semi Lost (5-2) and In Joe's Honor (5-1).

In the sixth race, New Advantage is scratched, leaving 10 starters in a $35,000 to $40,000 claimer over 1 1/16 miles on turf. This is a wide-open race, with Macaneo (3-1), Charming Boy (9-2), and Expresso Bay, Moomtazz and Motto (all 6-1) deserving respect.

The seventh race is run over 5 1/2 furlongs for $10,000 claimers. Sensational Guy, Great White Father and Mei Sing Star top the 10-horse field.

The $175,000 Honeymoon Breeders' Cup Handicap for 3-year-old fillies is led by Ticker Tape, a two-time stakes winner this year. She is 8-5 on the morning line and will be keyed on many tickets. But Western Hemisphere and Amorama have run well in recent starts and deserve consideration.

In the ninth race, My Sister Frances is withdrawn from a maiden claimer over seven furlongs. There are 13 starters in an open race led by Camp Del Mar Rules (7-2) and Bit of Folly and BR Lady (both 9-2).

The final race may require more than one selection. Trainer Troy Bainum starts a two-horse entry of Cosmic High and Memo Image who are 4-1 on the morning line. School of Thought (7-2), Faro (9-2) and Orange 'Em (5-1) are worth a look.
