Hollendorfer hits 7,000-win mark

Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer became only the third trainer to reach 7,000 wins for his career when Kiss N Scat, a 2-year-old filly he also owns in partnership, romped in the first race on Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Only Steve Asmussen and the late Dale Baird have won more races than Hollendorfer.

Hollendorfer, 69, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He has won the Kentucky Oaks three times, and has won two Breeders' Cup races, including last month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies with Songbird, who is a certainty to be named champion of her division.

Hollendorfer has trained two prior Eclipse Award winners, Blind Luck and Shared Belief.
