Hollendorfer has three for Rolling Green

The Jerry Hollendorfer-trained stablemates Southern Freedom and Outside Nashville meet up again in Monday’s $50,000 Rolling Green at Golden Gate Fields after finishing a head apart in the summer’s best race on the fair circuit.
Southern Freedom set the pace in last month’s Joseph T. Grace Handicap over the Santa Rosa turf course, which doesn’t usually favor speed. It appeared that Outside Nashville got a nose in front in the lane, but Southern Freedom dug in and scored his first stakes victory with a valiant effort.
But there are two wild cards in Monday’s seven-horse field for the 1 1/16-mile turf stakes who could shake things up.
The speedy Bronze Star, the third member of the Hollendorfer trio in the race, was the wire-to-wire winner of the Oak Tree Handicap at Pleasanton and was scratched from the Joseph T. Grace. If he runs, it could create a pace problem for Southern Freedom.
Also entered is Twentytwentyvision, making his Golden Gate debut for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella. The 5-year-old Pollard’s Vision gelding will be making his first start since registering a 100 Beyer Speed Figure with his third-place finish in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita on June 4.
Twentytwentyvision has hit the board in graded stakes in all three of his starts this year after returning from a seven-month layoff. He has finished in the money in all 11 of his career starts and looms as the favorite based on a series of strong recent works.

KEY CONTENDERS
Twentytwentyvision, by Pollard’s Vision
Last 3 Beyers: 100-98-98
◗ He comes north for his first start in three months. He has a series of four solid works in the last month. He doesn’t have classic turf breeding but has hit the board in all seven of his turf races with his solid closing kick.
Southern Freedom, by Pure Prize
Last 3 Beyers: 91-95-90
◗ Speedster has put things together since his return to Northern California. He comes off a game win on the front end over a Santa Rosa turf course that usually isn’t kind to speed. Prior to that, he dueled all the way before losing by a neck in the Grade 3 All American on the main track here. Hollendorfer has kept him sharp with steady maintenance drills.
Outside Nashville, by Broken Vow
Last 3 Beyers: 91-96-91
◗ Nearly caught Southern Freedom in the Joseph T. Grace. He’s 0 for 2 over this course and has lost his past two meetings with his stablemate. He’s a hard trier and will make his presence felt in the lane.
