Holbrook convicted of murder

Marty McGee|Mar 15, 2004

Roger Holbrook was convicted last week by a Lawrenceburn, Ind., jury of the murder of his former wife, trainer Barbara Holbrook, who was found shot at her home in November 2002.

Holbrook was apprehended in a small Tennessee town in May 2003 after being the subject of an "America's Most Wanted" television segment. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 1.

Working primarily in Ohio and surrounding states, Holbrook, 58, had been licensed as a trainer, jockey agent, and in other racetrack capacities for much of his adult life. His ex-wife, who was well known at River Downs and other tracks in the region, had taken out an emergency protective order against him about a month before the murder.
