Hog Creek Hustle likely for Gulfstream Park Mile

Hog Creek Hustle is being aimed toward the Gulfstream Park Mile, a one-turn mile Feb. 29 at Gulfstream, trainer Vickie Foley said Wednesday.
“We’re still waiting to hear on shipping,” said Foley, who trains Hog Creek Hustle for Something Special Racing LLC. “Hopefully, he’ll be able to fly.”
Four-year-old Hog Creek Hustle won the Grade 1 Woody Stephens over seven furlongs at Belmont and was second by a nose in the Grade 1 Allen Jerkens over seven furlongs at Saratoga. He capped his 2019 campaign with a sixth-place finish in the six-furlong Breeders’ Cup Sprint and was a distant second Jan. 18 in the Duncan Kenner at Fair Grounds, a three-horse race in which Bobby’s Wicked One controlled the pace.

“He came out of that race good. That race wasn’t really fair for him the way it played out,” Foley said.
◗ Friday’s feature, race 6, is carded for higher-end Louisiana-bred allowance horses at one mile on turf, but with heavy midweek rain expected could wind up on the main track. Either way, the improved Treys Midnite Moon rates a solid chance at a fair price.
