Hock It to You seeks first stakes win in Texas Quarter Horse Association Sale Futurity
Hock It to You has had some close calls in major races and on Saturday night will attempt to nail down his first stakes win in the $435,910 Texas Quarter Horse Association Sale Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park.
The race is one of two stakes on the card. Tee Britt starts as the fastest qualifier in the $207,950 Retama Park Derby.
Hock It to You set the fastest qualifying time for the TQHA Sale Futurity, when he won his 350-yard trial in 17.41 seconds. The score came by 2 3/4 lengths on a track rated good July 9 at Sam Houston.
“Hock It to You is an excellent all-around racehorse,” trainer Juan Diaz Jr. told Sam Houston publicity. “The exciting part about him is that he runs better in each race.”
Hock It to You ran second in the $477,000 Oklahoma Futurity in March at Remington Park and second in the Grade 2, $732,000 Sam Houston Futurity in May.
Ricky Ramirez has the mount from post 6 for Reynold Munoz and Heavy Hitters Racing.
The chief threat could be Cali Chrome, a stakes-placed runner who is 2 for 3.
Sam Houston has a special first post Saturday of 6:25 p.m. Central.
