Hits Pricey Legacy returns from long layoff with dominant Oklahoma Stallion Stakes victory

Hits Pricey Legacy ran a powerful race in her first start in nine months Friday night, when she won off by 4 1/2 lengths in the $50,000 fillies division of the Oklahoma Stallion Stakes at Remington Park.
Hits Pricey Legacy covered seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:23.54, which was a quicker time for the distance than the $50,000 colts and geldings division two races earlier. Kaleo won that race by 13 3/4 lengths, in a time of 1:24.04.
Both stakes were for 3-year-olds by eligible stallions.
Hits Pricey Legacy ($3) last raced Dec. 17 at Remington, finishing third in the $100,000 Trapeze Stakes. In her return to action Friday night, she was content to sit just off the pace set by Because, racing along the rail as that one set fractions of 22.98 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.40 for the half-mile. Hits Pricey Legacy had to wait on the turn, was angled out into the stretch, and pulled away to win over Plenty of Vision.
“She ran great today,” winning rider Jose Alvarez said in a post-race simulcast interview conducted by Remington. “When I asked her to run, she gave me all she had. She’s a nice filly.”

“She’s going to want more distance,” he said in the same interview with Alvarez. “A mile, a mile and a sixteenth.”
Trout said Hits Pricey Legacy is a candidate for the Oklahoma Classics Night card next month at Remington. She was winning her second stakes Friday behind last year’s Slide Show at a mile at Remington. Hits Pricey Legacy has now won 3 of 6 starts and earned $139,355.
Kaleo ($7.20) trailed the field through factions of 22.09 and 45.24 before moving to the fore – then moving out through the stretch.
“He made me look good,” winning rider Leandro Goncalves said in an interview conducted by Remington.
Goncalves said when he asked Kaleo for run, the horse made up more ground quicker than he anticipated. Goncalves was aboard for Kari Craddock, who bred, owns, and trains the son of Foreign Policy.
Kaleo has now won 2 of 6 starts for earnings of $61,112.
