Hips to watch: Fasig-Tipton November

Wonder Gadot wins the 2018 Queen-s Plate
Michael Burns Wonder Gadot is expected to use the Prince of Wales Stakes as a stepping-stone to the Aug. 18 Alabama Stakes.

Following are horses to watch during the Fasig-Tipton fall selected mixed sale, set for the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 5. Horses were selected based primarily on their pedigrees and the racing or commercial results of notable family members. The selections reflect catalog updates, outs, and supplemental entries to the catalog through Nov. 3.

Hip 36, weanling colt by Arrogate – Maggie McGowan, by Salt Lake. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.

From the first crop of champion and leading money-winner Arrogate, this is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Denman’s Call. It is the immediate family of Grade 1 winner and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Evening Jewel, as well as Grade 1 winners General Challenge and Notable Career.

Hip 54, weanling filly by Speightstown – Plenty O’Toole, by Tiznow. Consigned by Hidden Brook, agent.

This is a half-sister to Mr. Money, a four-time graded stakes winner this season. It is the family of Dubai World Cup winner Well Armed, as well as Grade 1 winner American Patriot.

Hip 92, America (in foal to Uncle Mo), broodmare by A.P. Indy – Lacadena, by Fasliyev. Consigned by Stone Farm, agent.

America is a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed, and her first foal sold for $1.5 million at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale. The mare’s granddam is Kentucky Oaks winner and multiple stakes producer Blush With Pride, whose foals include multiple classic producer Better Than Honour.

Hip 95, Baffled (Medaglia d’Oro), broodmare by Distorted Humor – Surf Club, by Ocean Crest. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

Group 3-placed Baffled is the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Constitution, Group 2 winner Boynton, and Grade 3 winner Jacaranda. Baffled sold for $3.5 million to top the 2016 Fasig-Tipton November sale. Since then, Constitution has become one of North America’s leading freshman sires. Surf Club, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Awesome Humor, also is the dam of Grade 1 winner Emcee, Group 2 winner Surfer, and stakes winner Spring Party.

Hip 96, Belvoir Bay, racing or broodmare prospect by Equiano - Path of Peace, by Rock of Gibraltar. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.

Belvoir Bay scored her 10th career stakes victory when setting a course record in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

Hip 98, Blue Prize, racing or broodmare prospect by Pure Prize – Blues for Sale, by Not For Sale. Consignd by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, agent for Merriebelle Stable.

Millionaire Blue Prize was a Group 1 winner in her native Argentina, is a two-time winner of the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland, and, just days before this sale, won the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Santa Anita.

Hip 111, Egyptian Storm, broodmare prospect by Pioneerof the Nile – Stage Magic, by Ghostzapper. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

Although winless, this is a half-sister to unbeaten Triple Crown winner Justify and to Grade 3 winner The Lieutenant.

Hip 140, weanling filly by Pioneerof the Nile – Laffina, by Arch. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Hip 141, Laffina (Ghostzapper), broodmare by Arch - St Lucinda, by St. Jovite. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for BlackRidge Stables.

Laffina’s first foal is multiple Grade 1 winner Bast. The weanling filly for the mare, a half-sister to three stakes winners, immediately precedes her in the ring. This is the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Fault.

Hip 150, Mia Mischief, racing or broodmare prospect by Into Mischief – Greer Lynn, by Speightstown. Consigned by Elite Sales, agent.

Mia Mischief is the winner of the Grade 1 Humana Distaff. Her dam, Greer Lynn, in foal to leading commercial sire War Front, will be offered earlier in the evening, as Hip 125.

Hip 166, Photo Call (Quality Road), broodmare by Galileo – Theann, by Rock of Gibraltar. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

Two-time Grade 1 winner Photo Call scored one of those top-level victories over two-time Eclipse Award champion Tepin. Photo Call is out of Group 3 winner Theann, making her a half-sister to Group 2 winner Land Force. Theann is a half-sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Halfway to Heaven, dam of Group 1 winners Magical and Rhododendron.

Hip 173, Diva Delite (Justify), broodmare by Repent - Tour Hostess, by Tour d'Or. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Grade 3 winner Diva Delite is the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Midnight Bisou and stakes-placed Stage Left. She is offered carrying a foal from the first crop of Triple Crown winner Justify.

Hip 179, Shamrock Rose, broodmare prospect by First Dude – Slew’s Quality, by Elusive Quality. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.

The Eclipse Award champion female sprinter of 2018 after winning the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, Shamrock Rose is from the family of Horse of the Year Lady’s Secret.

Hip 196, Wonder Gadot, broodmare prospect by Medaglia d’Oro – Loving Vindication, by Vindication. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.

Wonder Gadot was Canada’s Horse of the Year as a 3-year-old, when she finished second in the Kentucky Oaks and won a pair of Canadian classics in the Queen’s Plate and Prince of Wales. In all, the half-sister to stakes winner Solemn Tribue and Hard Not to Love won or placed in 12 stakes. This is the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Secret Spice.

Hip 197, Wow Cat, racing or broodmare prospect by Lookin At Lucky – Winter Cat, by Cat Thief. Consigned by Elite Sales, agent.

Millionaire Wow Cat was a Group 1 winner and champion in her native Chile, then came to the United States last year to be a Grade 1 winner and finish second in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Hip 201, Veracity (Justify), broodmare by Distorted Humor – Yell, by A.P. Indy. Consigned by Indian Creek, agent.

Grade 2 winner Yell is the dam of stakes winner Cheery, Grade 1-placed Chide, and stakes-placed Shrill. Cheery, a full sister to Veracity, is the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Elate. Another daughter of Yell, Toll, is the dam of Grade 2 winner and classic candidate Tax. This is the family of Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero, and Grade 1 winners Eastern Echo and Hero’s Honor also appear on the catalog page.

Hip 216, Sweet N Discreet (Liam’s Map), broodmare by Discreet Cat – West Side Dancer, by Gone West. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

Grade 3-placed stakes winner Sweet N Discreet’s first two foals are winners, led by Grade 2 winner Sweet Melania, who finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The mare is a half-sister to Grade 2 winners Discreet Dancer and Travelin Man and is from the extended family of Broodmare of the Year Weekend Surprise, dam of A.P. Indy.

Hip 219, weanling filly by Gun Runner - Love and Pride, by A.P. Indy. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

This filly from the first crop of Horse of the Year Gun Runner is out of multiple Grade 1 winner Love and Pride. This is the immediate family of multiple Grade 1 winner and Broodmare of the Year Cara Rafaela, dam of classic winner and champion Bernardini.

Transplendid, the dam of Grade 3 winner Dennis' Moment, is immediately preceded in the ring by her weanling filly by leading sire Into Mischief. This is an active immediate family, also represented on the track this year by Grade 1 winner Henley's Joy.
