Hips to watch at the Fasig-Tipton July sale of horses of racing age

Hip No. 408, Namaskara, dk. b. or br. m., 2008, Giant’s Causeway—Surya, by Unbridled, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for The Dispersal of Eutrophia Farm.

A stakes-placed broodmare selling in foal to Hard Spun, which would be her second foal. She is a daughter of Grade 2 winner Surya, whose seven foals to race are all winners, including Grade 1 winner Aruna and Grade 2 winner Hoop of Colour. French classic-placed Honoured Guest can be found in the extended family.

An unraced 2-year-old out of the Grade 3 winner Bridge Game. She is from the family of Cee’s Song, who was the pivot point for runners including Horse of the Year Tiznow, Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow, and Grade 1 winner Paynter, among many others.

Hip No. 426, Sheikh of Sheikhs, b. c., 2013, Discreetly Mine—Homesteader, by Pioneering, consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

A Grade 3-placed stakes winner out of the stakes-placed Homesteader, whose five foals to race are all winners. The Florida-bred is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Conquest Two Step.

This broodmare prospect’s notable wins include the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes, Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes, and Grade 3 Santa Barbara Handicap, all on turf. She is from the family of Grade 3 winner Moonwalk, Grade 2-placed Atswhatimtalkinbout, and Grade 3-placed stakes winner Thatswhatimean.

After selling to the Coolmore partnership for $1 million at the 2013 Keeneland September yearling sale, The Great War went on to become a stakes winner in Ireland and a Grade 3-placed stakes winner in the U.S. His page includes Grade 1 winner Zensational, Grade 2 winner Departing, and Grade 3 winner Trip.
