With high winds expected, Aqueduct cancels Thursday card

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Thursday’s eight-race card at Aqueduct was canceled due to a forecast for high winds, the New York Racing Association announced Thursday morning.

According to The National Weather Service, the winds Thursday afternoon are expected to 23 to 29 miles per hour with wind gusts as high as 39.

This is the second cancellation of the month due to high winds. The Feb. 7 card was also canceled. There have been three cards canceled since the winter meet began on Dec. 12.

Aqueduct will remain open for simulcasting. Live racing is expected to resume on Friday with a first post at 1:20 p.m.
