High Noon Rider in peak form for Gulfstream feature

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Friday’s card at Gulfstream Park will be highlighted by a $48,000 allowance and optional-claiming race carded at 1 1/16 miles on the turf that lured a talented and well-matched field of nine plus Overdeliver, who was entered for main track only and would be the odds-on favorite if the race switches to the dirt.
High Noon Rider, who like Overdeliver comes from the barn of trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., may go postward the slight favorite on the turf coming off a pair of well-graded starter-allowance victories, albeit against slightly weaker company than he’ll encounter in Friday’s headliner. High Noon Rider earned a career-best 95 Beyer Speed Figure for his 1 3/4-length victory April 3 and bettered that mark by one point when returning against the same kind to rally from last to a three-quarter-length decision four weeks later.

The stretch-running High Noon Rider will be at the mercy of the pace, as always, but there is ample speed in the field, including Thunder Ride and Almashriq, who’ll try grass for the first time since coming to the United States for his 4-year-old campaign.
Other key contenders include Grand Journey, Golden Decision, Big Agenda, and Bird’s Eye View.
