Hidden Scroll makes turf debut – again – in Jaipur

ELMONT, N.Y. – Hidden Scroll will get a second chance to make a good first impression on the turf in Saturday’s Grade 1, $250,000 Jaipur Stakes at Belmont Park.
Hidden Scroll was set to make his turf debut in an allowance here June 3. When the gates opened, he stumbled badly, unseating jockey John Velazquez. Hidden Scroll actually ran a lap around the course and was unharmed.
On Sunday, Hidden Scroll looked terrific in a four-furlong turf work that went in 47.83 seconds.
“I thought it was pretty nice,” trainer Bill Mott said succinctly.
Hidden Scroll is only 2 for 7, but his wins have come on dirt by 14 and 12 1/2 lengths.
The Jaipur is likely to draw the largest field of the six stakes scheduled on Saturday’s card.
Also expected to run are Justaholic, Kanthaka, Oleksandra, Pure Sensation, Shekky Shebaz, Stubbins, Texas Wedge, and Tiger Blood.
On Sunday, Stubbins worked five furlongs in 1:01.25 over the Belmont turf.
