Hersh: Saratoga pick three play for Saturday, Aug. 30

Race 6 – I’m partial to DUKE OF THE CITY (#9) in this $25,000 starter. It looks like the trainer had starter-allowance races in mind when he dropped him in for a $16,000 tag two back wearing front wraps off two dismal performances. Boom – complete form turnaround. Worked six furlongs between starts. Will be fairly priced and is singled here.

Race 7 – Chad Brown-trained first-timer LOVE AND MARRIAGE (#5) might well prove equal of the Brown-trained favorite HOPE CROSS (#3). ANGEL CHOIR (#2) had to be used to cross over and make lead from post 10 last time when beaten a nose at this level. She finished pretty fast and drew an inside post this time.

Race 8 – Don’t see much separating several in the Prioress Stakes. SWEET WHISKEY (#5) will be on most tickets but has no substantial edge on MISS BEHAVIOUR (#6), who might better suit this shorter distance than she did the Test Stakes last out. TEA TIME (#7) is a bounce-back candidate with first Lasix and also makes the A list.
