Hero Time and Dough has found his calling
Hero Time and Dough was a dud in maiden special weight races at 350 and 400 yards in 2018 and 2019, going winless in eight starts.
The 4-year-old gelding’s career was revived when he was tried in an 870-yard race at Zia Park last December.
The win has given owner and breeder Richard Scott and trainer John Stinebaugh a set of races to target for Hero Time and Dough, who starts in an allowance race for nonwinners of two at 870 yards at Remington Park on Sunday.

Hero Time and Dough has started once at the Remington Park meeting, finishing second against a similar field on March 14 in his first race of the year. Hero Time and Dough raced wide on the turn and was beaten a length.
For Sunday’s race, jockey Stormy Smith has the mount for the first time. Again, a wide draw could be a factor. Hero Time and Dough has drawn post 7 in the field of eight.
The allowance race is the second of 10 races on a program that begins at 7 p.m. Eastern, or 6 p.m. Central. The post time is a change from past Sunday programs at the current winter-spring meeting when races were run in the afternoons.
Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
The conditions are a good fit for Coastal Confessions, who was third behind Hero Time and Dough in the March 14 race. Trained by Trey Ellis, Coastal Confessions was winless in five starts in maiden special weight races and a futurity trial in 2018 and 2019. In his 870-yard debut, Coastal Confessions won a maiden special weight race at Sunland Park in January.
Coastal Confessions, who is quick enough to lead, has a good draw in post 4.
Later on the program, there are two maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at 300 yards. Coronados Lady, third in the $383,700 Remington Park Futurity at 300 yards on March 21, will have her third start in the sixth race. Coronados Lady was second by a head in a division of the Remington Park Futurity trials on March 7.
In the eighth race, the first-time starter Notreadytoplaynice, a filly by First Down Dash, is likely to attract support. Trained by Clinton Crawford, Notreadytoplaynice won a 250-yard training race in 13.72 seconds on March 5.
