Here's Hannah star of four-stakes closing-day card

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – With just about every horse left on the grounds entered on the card, Hastings will close the 2020 meet on Thursday with 14 races. Post time for the first race is 12:45 p.m. Pacific.
The $100,000 Jack Diamond Futurity for 2-year-olds and the $100,000 Sadie Diamond Futurity for 2-year-old fillies share the spotlight Thursday with the $50,000 Delta Colleen for fillies and mares and the $50,000 S.W. Randall Plate for 3-year-olds and up.
Due to the presence of Here’s Hannah, only four horses will start in the 1 1/16-mile Delta Colleen, which kicks off the marathon card.

A 5-year-old British Columbia-bred by Numaany out of Dreams Start Here, Here’s Hannah comes into the Delta Colleen off a win in an open 1 1/16-mile allowance race for fillies and mares on Sept. 6. With Scott Williams riding, she set a quick-half-mile time of 46.68 seconds and gamely held off Sunburst, who came back to win the $75,000 Northlands Distaff Handicap on Sunday at Century Mile.
Here’s Hannah can stalk, and with the speedy Under Par in the field, she will need to.
Carrying high weight of 124 pounds, Here’s Hannah will break from the outside post with Williams riding in the Delta Colleen.
The main threat will come from Northern Graystar, an improving 4-year-old for owner-trainer Glen Todd. A British Columbia-bred daughter of Graydar, Northern Graystar came from a stalking position to win the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for 3- and 4-year-old fillies here Sept. 5 and cruised to a front-running victory in an allowance race for nonwinners of three on Sept. 20. Both races were at 1 1/16 miles.
Juveniles get chance to shine
Next up in race 4 is the Sadie Diamond Futurity, and the 6 1/2-furlong dash is a wide-open event.
Mi Reyna deserves to be favored, although she has paid big winning both her stars. Trained by Milton Palma, she paid $75.30 when she won her debut and $21.40 when she came back to upset the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes on Sept. 5.
With Jose Asencio riding, she took them all the way in her debut and came from a stalking position in the Sales Stakes, so she is versatile. A daughter of Bakken, Mi Reyna will break from post 2 with Asencio aboard.
Bayakoas Image figures to move forward following a narrow loss in her debut in a maiden special weight race for trainer Brian O’Connell. The daughter of Lent is out of Tempered Steel, who won the British Columbia Oaks for O’Connell. Tempered Steel was the runner-up in the Sadie Diamond Futurity after winning the CTHS Sales Stakes in her third start.
Bayakoas Image will break from post 4 with Efrain Hernandez riding.
With plenty of speed in the field, the Sadie Diamond Futurity could set up nicely for Alberta Moon, who rallied in her second start to finish second behind Mi Reyna in the CTHS Sales Stakes.
Nine One One could end up favored in the 6 1/2-furlong Jack Diamond Futurity, which drew eight horses and goes as the eighth race.
Trained by Rob Gilker, Nine One One ran a huge race when he debuted in the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes on Sept. 5. He held the lead late but was nipped at the wire by Dad’s Legacy, who was coming off a win in the $40,000 Canadian Juvenile at Century Mile.
Nine One One should move forward with a race behind him, and it will not hurt that leading rider Amadeo Perez is picking up the mount from Silvino Morales, who rides Finding Ways.
