Her Majesty's Flag earns longshot victory in Duchess

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Her Majesty’s Flag notched her first stakes as the longest shot on the board in Sunday’s $127,750 Duchess for 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine.
Her Majesty’s Flag returned $39.70 after closing wide from third in the seven-furlong sprint. The favored Pohdi Pohdi ran decently while competing on short rest off a stakes win last weekend, but she got caught on the wire by Roaming for second. The Chicago shipper America Mon Amie came inside to finish fourth in a field reduced to five with the scratch of Watch This Cat.
Her Majesty’s Flag prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:22.91. She earned $75,000 for Dominion Bloodstock and Barry Butzer.
Omar Moreno rode Her Majesty’s Flag for trainer Dave Cotey.
“I thought we were going to be a little farther away, but she was so comfortable being up there,” said Moreno. “When I asked her, she just kept going.”
