Henry's Gamble in form for Thursday feature
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Following one of her better performances, Henry’s Gamble switches from the main turf to the inner turf in Thursday’s Woodbine headliner, a 7 1/2-furlong event for fillies and mares combining nonwinners of-two Ontario-sired allowance types with $40,000 claimers.
Owned by prominent Ontario breeder Ivan Dalos, Henry’s Gamble won her debut for $25,000 maidens in December before getting the winter off. She was protected by waiver from being claimed when third in her May 12 season opener against $25,000 nonwinners-of-two opposition.
Henry’s Gamble has made her last three starts at this level. She finished a fast-closing second in a seven-furlong Tapeta sprint on June 2. A month later, she found 1 1/8 miles on the turf too far and faded to sixth. Henry’s Gamble rallied from fourth to finish a close third in a slow-paced sprint going seven-eighths on Aug. 6.
