Hennig will let Strike Charmer determine what’s next

Strike Charmer came out of her 9-1 upset victory in Saturday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Beaugay Stakes “real well” according to trainer Mark Hennig, who added that he would let Strike Charmer tell him when she’s ready to run again.
Hennig said the Grade 1, $700,000 Just a Game on June 11 would be considered but he also noted that the 6-year-old mare has “run two hard races in a row.”
“We’ll see who’s running and see how she’s doing,” Hennig said before taking off for the University of Pennsylvania, where his daughter Taylor was to graduate Sunday. “A 6-year-old mare, you got to let them show you when they’re doing well. She was sharp cooling out, which was great to see; proud of herself.”
Strike Charmer, a daughter of Smart Strike owned by Courtlandt Farms, earned a career-high 99 Beyer Speed Figure for the victory.
