Hennessy Express makes Enchantress first stakes win

Hennessy Express became a stakes winner Sunday when she rolled to an 8 1/4-length win over McGoldie in the $85,000 Enchantress at Sunland Park.
The race was one of two stakes on the card. Blazing Navarone was a 3 1/4-length winner of the $85,000 Red Hedeman Mile.
The stakes were both mile races for 3-year-olds bred in New Mexico.
The Enchantress field included Fast Gator, who suffered the first defeat of her career when finishing fourth in what was her two-turn debut. Hennessy Express ($19.20) was in command throughout the race for fillies, setting fractions of 23.38 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.63 for the half-mile, and 1:13.45. She went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:38.11.
Roimes Chirinos was aboard the winner for trainer Todd Fincher.
Hennessy Express was returning to racing with fillies after facing males when third in the Eddy County at Zia Park. She is a daughter of Roll Hennessy Roll who has now won two of seven starts and $79,712. Hennessy Express races for her breeder, Dale Taylor.
Blazing Navarone ($4.40) rallied from off the pace to win the Red Hedeman Mile over Hollywood Henry. He covered the distance in 1:38.57. Ry Eikleberry was aboard the winner for the partnership of George E. Coleman and Henry Dominguez. Dominguez also is the trainer of Blazing Navarone.
Blazing Navarone, a son of Song of Navarone, was winning the second stakes race of his career. Overall, he is 4 for 8 for earnings of $168,226. He was bred by Lucky Six, Inc.
