Hebbronville, W V Jetsetter get rematch in rich allowance

The 3-year-olds Hebbronville and W V Jetsetter, who were a neck apart as the one-two finishers in a Grade 3, $100,000 stakes last month, are rematched in another $100,000, six-furlong sprint Sunday at Parx Racing.
Although the purse matches that of the Grade 3 Jersey Shore at Monmouth Park, Sunday’s eighth race is a no-conditions allowance on the second day of Parx’s fall festival, which is offering fatter-than-usual purses. The card features five allowance or optional-claiming events with purses between $70,000 and $100,000.
W V Jetsetter, based at Saratoga with George Weaver, got an ideal inside stalking trip in the Jersey Shore on July 25 and took a half-length lead at the eighth pole, but Hebbronville, launching a four-wide move under Trevor McCarthy, rallied to narrowly prevail for his second straight score since returning from a 1 1/2-month layoff.
Hebbronville, based at Churchill Downs with trainer Lynn Whiting, has the advantage of proven form locally. He began his career by scoring back-to-back victories at Parx last year.
W V Jetsetter, who will be ridden for the first time by Alex Cintron, prepped for this spot by working a best-of-43 five furlongs in 58.80 seconds Aug. 22 at Saratoga.
The field of seven 3-year-olds includes two-time stakes winner Bayerd, who will be making his first start since April. During the spring at Oaklawn Park, Bayerd twice finished ahead of Hebbronville in stakes. Trainer Steve Asmussen shows a 6-for-42 record (14 percent) with 3-year-old allowance sprinters back following a break of 61 to 180 days.
The Monmouth Park-based Ambidextrous Alex ships in following a daylight win in a first-level allowance a month ago at Delaware Park. Two of the horses he beat that day returned to win their next starts.
The locally based Roxbury N Overton, who may be loose on the lead, bids for his fourth win in his last five starts. His only loss since June 7 came when he tried Pennsylvania-bred stakes company.
◗ Classic Giacnroll, second in the Grade 2 Jerome and Grade 3 Smarty Jones as a 3-year-old last season, looks to snap a six-race winless streak in a third-level, optional $40,000 claimer with a $90,000 purse (race 3). The field in the mile-and-70-yard race also includes Golden Glint, who posted a career-best 100 Beyer Speed Figure last time out when racing at Laurel Park. The 6-year-old Golden Glint is owned by Frank Stronach, whose Stronach Group owns Laurel, where the horse is based.
