Heavy favorite in Meadowlands Pace
The undefeated Somebeachsomewhere is the 2-5 favorite to continue his dominance of the 3-year-old pacing division Saturday night in the $1.1 million Meadowlands Pace.
He will start from post 2 in the 10-horse field. Paul MacDonell will drive this lone horse in the barn of trainer Brian MacGrath, a car dealer and part-owner in the Schooner Stables of Westchester Station, Nova Scotia.
Somebeachsomewhere has been largely unchallenged during a 10-race streak that includes victories at Mohawk Raceway in the $950,000 Metro Stakes last fall and the $1.47 million North American Cup in June.
Somebeachsomewhere continued to dazzle in his first start outside of Canada in last week's Pace eliminations. Despite not having raced in almost a month, he took his elimination in 1:48.60, equaling the stakes record set in 2005 by Rocknroll Hanover.
The two other elimination winners will start alongside the heavy favorite. Share the Delight is 10-1 from the rail with seven-time Pace winner John Campbell in the sulky. Sand Shooter, 8-1 from post 3, will be driven by Tim Tetrick, who captured last year's Pace with Southwind Lynx.
