Heavenly Prize fails to fill; may be brought back Sunday at Biogio's Rose expense
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – There were not enough entries to fill the $125,000 Heavenly Prize Stakes for filles and mares scheduled for Saturday. The race was to be brought back for Sunday with entries retaken on Thursday.
It is possible the race could draw a few horses scheduled to run in Sunday’s $100,000 Biogio’s Rose Stakes, meaning that race wouldn’t be run.
New York-bred stakes winners Bank Sting and Maiden Beauty were pointing for the Biogio’s Rose, but were entered Wednesday for the Heavenly Prize. The only non-New York-breds entered for the Heavenly Prize were Battle Bling and Truth Hurts.
Sharp Starr and Love and Love were the other two New York-breds pointing to the Biogio’s Rose. NYRA officials are hopeful one or both will enter the Heavenly Prize.
Both races are scheduled at one mile.
