Heat Transfer takes Miss Ohio Stakes

Heat Transfer dueled through the stretch and began to edge clear late to win the $50,000 Miss Ohio by a half-length at ThistleDown on Saturday.

Ridden by Jareth Loveberry for trainer Larry Rivelli, the 2-year-old Ohio-bred filly proved best over Pyrite Blue Magna, who set the pace but could not go with the winner late. Pyrite Blue Magna finished a half-length in front of Justalittlesmoke in third.

The running time for the 5 1/2 furlongs over a fast track was 1:07.68, and Heat Transfer returned $3 to win.
