It appears to be a one-horse race Saturday in the $50,000 Miss Ohio Stakes at ThistleDown. Nine 2-year-old fillies are entered in the 5 1/2-furlong race for Ohio-breds. The standout is Heat Transfer, trained by Larry Rivelli and owned by Patricias Hope LLC. The unknown factors are a trio of first-time starters. Race 7 KEY CONTENDERS Heat Transfer (Last 2 Beyers: 69-63) ◗ Finished third in her first outing at Arlington as the odds-on favorite, and then won her last race at Arlington while earning a Beyer Speed Figure that is 19 points higher than any of the horses in this field that have started. ◗ The daughter of Latent Heat posted a bullet work at Arlington on Monday. ◗ E.T. Baird comes in to ride the filly, and that jockey-trainer combo has won at a 41 percent clip the past two years. ◗ She was an $190,000 purchase in March this year. Something Nice (Beyer 50) ◗ The daughter of Hold Me Back won at first asking locally going the same 5 1/2-furlong distance over a sloppy track July 19. Trained by Bob Gorham, Something Nice won against statebred company with something left. Savings and Roan (Beyer 35) ◗ The filly won at first asking at Belterra Park on July 12 going 5 1/2 furlongs for trainer Mike Maker. Her victory was against statebreds, winning by three lengths, though her Beyer was just 35. ◗ Three fillies, Pyrite Blue Magna , Brier Hill Girl, and Legend of Tutu, are all first-time starters.
