He Is No Lie could push Kennyten in Best Pal
Kennyten, the country’s fastest 2-year-old, will have company on the front end when he starts in the Grade 3 Best Pal Stakes on Aug. 8 at Del Mar.
Kennyten earned a 92 Beyer Speed Figure wiring his debut on June 12 at Santa Anita. The figure is the highest of the year by a 2-year-old. Kennyten is by first-crop sire Drain the Clock and trained by Vladimir Cerin.
He Is No Lie, runaway debut winner at Santa Anita and runner-up by a head in the Bashford Manor Stakes on June 28 at Churchill Downs, has returned to California to target the Best Pal, trainer Doug O’Neill said. He Is No Lie put away his pace rivals in the Bashford Manor, opened up by four lengths, and got collared late. He Is No Lie, by first-crop sire Early Voting, earned an 86 Beyer in the Bashford Manor.
Daily Racing Form plans to publish a Del Mar 2-year-old preview next week.
