HBO wins media feature Eclipse

HBO Sports has won the 2007 media Eclipse Award in the national television feature programming category for its documentary "Barbaro," which aired on June 6, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Thursday.

The one-hour program documented the life story of the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro, who was injured in the Preakness and died last January.

In chronicling "Barbaro," HBO used archival footage of the Thoroughbred as a weanling and in his early races, and supported it with interviews with Barbaro's owners, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, throughout the film.
