Hayward starts racing consulting company

Charles Hayward, a former top executive of the New York Racing Association and Daily Racing Form, has launched a racing consulting company called Hayward Advisory Services, according to an announcement from the company.

The consulting company will “assist racing companies grow their business through a strategic planning process and by introducing revenue and cost-saving initiatives,” the announcement said. The announcement said that Hayward Advisory Services would be marketed to companies in racing “and other industries.”

Hayward, a lifelong horseplayer and racing fan, was chief executive of NYRA from 2004 to 2012 and president of DRF from 1998 to 2004. Prior to that, he was an executive for various publishing houses in New York.

Hayward launched Thorougbred Racing Commentary, an online racing publication, in 2014, but he recently stepped down from the position of president and publisher. He remains the chairman of the company’s board.
