Spot Play: VELOCITY LAYLA (7th)
Race 1
(7) SUNSET DREAMER has yet to win in twelve starts on the year but should offer a much better price this week. (2) COLE HEAT takes a big step up but was sharp in victory last race. (5) HOLDINGALLTHECARDS needed the start last week and has room to improve.
Race 2
(1) FOX VALLEY GEMINI was super sharp in the qualifier and will look to stay undefeated in ten lifetime starts; short price. (2) BACKSTREET LAWYER is probably the only threat to the top choice but would need more. (4) FOX VALLEY HIJINX flashed good ability last year and can hit the ticket at a price.
Race 3
(5) YOU'REMYHEARTHROB raced gamely last week just getting picked off late. The 3-year-old needed the start and should have more to offer. (1) SAGEBRUSH SHOCKER gets the best post looking to make it two straight against similar. (2) SHERIFF COFFEY three-year-old pacer shows breaks in two of three but is very fast when right.
Race 4
(7) SHEINCREDIBLENASTY filly owns lots of ability and is more than capable of pulling off an upset with a good setup. (3) FOX VALLEY JAZZY last year's 2-year-old champ comes back off a solid qualifier but could need a start. (2) ROLLIN COAL filly has a lot of question marks coming off a really long layoff; use underneath.
Race 5
In an evenly matched race, (7) PRETTY IMAGE was razor sharp last week and was bet accordingly. The 4-year-old might be even better in her second start off the layoff. (5) BUCKLEGIRL BOBETTE owns a big burst of speed and does her best racing on the front end; fires early. (6) NARCIAN JEWEL had no excuse last week burning cash against an entire field coming off layoffs.
Race 6
(3) ET TU BRUTE had some sneaky late pace last week and needed the start. (4) LYONS KING well bred pacer fits in with this bunch and just needs a decent setup. (6) INTUITIVE WRITER should be better with a start over the track after shipping in from out east.
Race 7
(7) VELOCITY LAYLA has been facing tougher in Ohio. The 4-year-old has just been racing evenly but should find this spot much more to her liking. (8) GRAN SAN has hit the board in four of five. (5) ANOTHER TEMPTATION mare is very inconsistent from week to week. A good effort puts her in the mix.
Race 8
(6) SPECIAL SAUCE scored an easy victory last week but will need a better effort to make it two straight. (5) U MAKIN ME WAIT raced very well last week just missing to the top choice. (1) HERECOMESMAGOTTA lightly raced 3-year-old gets the best post in an inconsistent field.
Race 9
(7) KYLES SECRET owns a win against much tougher on the year. The 7-year-old pacing mare is a trouble-free trip away from cashing. (8) DONNA'S BEACH is probably the only threat to the top choice but has just been racing evenly. (3) HARD HEADED WOMEN has yet to win on the year and is probably best used underneath.
Race 10
(2) TWIN B TK has been off three weeks but has been pacing decent miles at Hoosier. The 6-year-old should be in line for a nice trip up close. (1) J K HALL gets the best post and the top driver against slightly weaker. (7) SKYWAY BILLY has room to improve first start off the claim for a new barn.
Race 11
In a really weak and inconsistent field, (3) CAVIART SPENCER needed the start last week and will offer a monster price. (4) SUMMONS owns five wins in thirteen starts on the year; threat. (NOTE: Top choice WILDCAT BOBBY was an early Judges scratch)
Race 12
(8) PHYLLIS JEAN scored an easy win against similar last out. (2) BOOGIE ON DOWN was no match for the top choice last start but is capable of turning the tables with some racing luck. (1) BLUE GEM pacer gets the best post and has room to improve second start out for new connections.
