Haveyougoneaway streaking into Carousel Stakes

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Haveyougoneaway will attempt to sweep Oaklawn Park’s sprint-stakes series for fillies and mares on Thursday, when she runs in the $150,000 Carousel. She is part of an accomplished field of seven that includes the multiple stakes winners Super Saks and Ghost Locket.
The Carousel, run over six furlongs, continues the $3.75 million Racing Festival of the South. The annual grouping of major stakes over the final week of the meet continues through Saturday with the Arkansas Derby.
Haveyougoneaway started her Oaklawn season with a neck win in the $100,000 American Beauty on Jan. 23. She proceeded to capture the $100,000 Spring Fever on Feb. 20, after which the decision was made to await the Carousel.
“The fresher she is, the better she runs,” said Allen Milligan, who trains Haveyougoneaway for Champion Racing Stable.

◗ Haveyougoneaway has worked on a regular basis since the Spring Fever, among her moves a five-eighths breeze in 1:00.60 on March 30 at Oaklawn.
“She gets so much out of her works,” Milligan said. “She keeps herself pretty fit.”
◗ In the Spring Fever, Haveyougoneaway closed with a flourish for a 2 3/4-length win under regular rider Jareth Loveberry.
“She’s just getting an awful lot of confidence about what she’s doing,” Milligan said. “She’s finally starting to learn how to relax and rate and just wait until Jareth calls on her. She’s really matured, developed, just really come into herself.”
◗ Haveyougoneaway will be moving back to six furlongs after shortening up to 5 1/2 for the Spring Fever.
“I do think it will be a benefit for us, give us a little more time to sit and wait and come running late,” said Milligan. “You always hope there’s enough speed in the race.”
Super Saks, by Sky Mesa

◗ She enters off a 3 1/2-length win in an optional $62,500 claiming sprint in which she set the pace and drew away from her rivals in the late stages March 26 at Oaklawn.
“She’s getting good mentally,” said D. Wayne Lukas, who trains Super Saks for Robert Baker and William Mack. “She’s finishing up well. We’re excited about her.”
◗ Super Saks had been intended for a turf-sprint stakes start at Keeneland, but the strong win last time at Oaklawn put her on a path to the Carousel, said Lukas.
“It’s always easier to walk out of your own stall,” said Lukas.
◗ Channing Hill has the mount from post 3.
