Hastings: Martin Garcia unable to ride in British Columbia Derby
Four-Footed Fotos Frank Fuentes, shown winning the Strawberry Morn aboard Wando Woman in July, will sub for Martin Garcia on Hurricane Lake in Sunday's British Columbia Derby.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Jockey Martin Garcia is off all his mounts at Hastings on Sunday because he wasn’t able to secure the proper work permits required to ride in Canada.
Garcia had mounts in four of the six stakes races carded, including Hurricane Lake in the Grade 3, $200,000 British Columbia Derby.
Trainer Mike Mitchell named local journeyman Frank Fuentes to replace Garcia on Hurricane Lake.
