Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 2-year-old stakes action wrapped up Wednesday at Harrington Raceway with two $110,000 trotting finals.
Breakaway Racing's Going Platinum ($34.20, Corey Callahan) sprung an upset in the event for fillies with a 2:02 2/5 victory over heavily-favored Daburg, who was previously unbeaten in three starts, and Platinum Proposal. The daughter of EL Platinum received a two-hole trip behind Daburg and responded to Callahan urging in the stretch to trot by the favorite for her first career win. Trained by Nick Callahan, Going Platinum boosted her lifetime bankroll to nearly $76,000.
In the male trotting final, trainer Les Givens had two entries and finished first and third as Nanticoke Racing's LG's Jaxon ($2.60, Jim Morand) was a 2:02 2/5 winner over Portnoy and LG's Bluestone. The Rolls Blue Chip gelding notched his second straight win in front-end fashion.
