Harrington: Salty Beaches sweet in Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund

The second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 2-year-old filly pacing action headlined the Tuesday (October 6) program at Harrington Raceway as three $20,000 divisions were contested.
Burke Racing, Knox Services and Weaver Bruscemi's Unbrdnbywhathsben ($2.40, Jason Thompson) was victorious in the first division in 1:58 2/5 over Wonderful Tonight and Miss Mam.
The He's Watching filly notched her first career win for trainer Ron Burke. Thompson put the filly on the front-end in the five-horse field early, and she pulled away effortlessly in the stretch for an open length victory.
Legacy Racing of Delaware's Cruising Mist ($4.40, Allan Davis) won the second division in 1:58 2/5 for trainer Wayne Givens. The Powerful Mist filly won her second straight race, completing a sweep of her eliminations, over pace-setter Rynesha and Jobs Not Finished.

The final division saw heavily-favored Tyler Davis' Salty Beaches ($2.60, Allan Davis) prevail for a third straight start in 1:57 2/5 for her owner/trainer over Land Of The Free and Aunt Agnes. The Badlands Hanover filly improved to three-for-four lifetime as driver Davis snagged two wins in DSBF action and four on the card. The meet's leading driver, Brandon Givens, had a driving triple.
The top eight point earners from the two elimination legs will return to compete in the $110,000 final on October 13. The October 12-14 week of racing will feature all of the DSBF finals and consolation events for 2-year-olds.
In the $22,500 Mares Open Pace, Bob Shahan's Jett Propelled ($6, Jason Thompson) continued her dominant reign with a 1:53 3/5 triumph for her owner/trainer. The 5-year-old Roddy's Bags Again mare surged through the stretch to grab her 12th seasonal win over Almost Persuaded and Remy Brown N. Jett Propelled's seasonal earnings ballooned past the $250,000 mark.
DSBF trotters will be featured on tomorrow's (October 7) program with five divisions. Post time is 4:30 p.m. (EDT).
